FAQ

What is a HEIC file?

HEIC is the default photo format on iPhones since iOS 11. It uses HEVC compression to create smaller files than JPG with similar quality.

Are my files uploaded to any server?

No. MuteForge processes everything directly in your browser using WebAssembly. Not a single byte leaves your device.

Will I lose quality converting HEIC to JPG?

With the default quality setting of 85%, the loss is virtually imperceptible. You can adjust the slider from 1 to 100.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. MuteForge works on any modern browser, including Chrome and Safari on mobile.

How many files can I convert at once?

There is no practical limit. MuteForge uses Web Workers to process multiple files in parallel without freezing your browser.
